Recovery Pathways

Recovery Pathways

Use the highest-value pathway first: reuse, repair, donate, resell, trade-in, then recycle when an item cannot safely stay in use.

Future PWA ready

Interactive pathway tool coming soon

For Phase 1, the site keeps stable item and pathway categories so the future PWA can add guided decision logic without another rebuild.

01

Reuse

Keep working items in use through sharing, hand-me-downs, redeployment, or community reuse.

Suitable items

Working phones, chargers, laptops, small appliances and power banks in good condition.

Avoid

Damaged lithium batteries, swollen devices, leaking items or exposed wiring.

Prep steps

Check the item works, remove personal data, clean it and bundle accessories.

Safety note

Do not reuse damaged, swollen, leaking, or overheating battery-powered devices.

02

Repair

Fix items that still have value before replacing or recycling them.

Suitable items

Phones with cracked screens, laptops needing parts, small appliances and e-bike accessories.

Avoid

Severely damaged battery packs, fire-damaged electronics and recalled items.

Prep steps

Describe the fault, back up data, remove passwords where safe and ask about repairability.

Safety note

Battery repairs should be handled by qualified repairers or specialist services.

04

Resell

Recover value through resale, refurbished markets, or second-hand platforms.

Suitable items

Working laptops, phones, tablets, monitors and accessories.

Avoid

Damaged lithium batteries, counterfeit chargers and unresolved data or safety issues.

Prep steps

Check condition honestly, remove data, photograph details and disclose faults.

Safety note

Be clear about battery health and never sell swollen, leaking or overheating items.

05

Trade-in

Use retailer, brand, or producer schemes when they offer take-back or credit.

Suitable items

Phones, laptops, tablets, power tools and selected batteries or accessories.

Avoid

Unaccepted brands, unsafe damaged batteries and products without required identification.

Prep steps

Check scheme rules, back up and wipe data and bring required accessories or ID.

Safety note

Follow brand instructions and do not ship damaged lithium products unless allowed.

06

Recycle

Use verified drop-off or specialist recovery points when higher-value options are not suitable.

Suitable items

End-of-life batteries, broken e-waste, vapes, light bulbs and solar panels via specialist channels.

Avoid

Mixed general waste, leaking batteries without safe handling and items not accepted by the site.

Prep steps

Check accepted items, tape lithium terminals where required and separate streams.

Safety note

Lithium batteries can create fire risk. Never place them in general waste.
